Career and Experiential Learning Update

The Co-operative Education and Career Services departments are transitioning to become the Career and Experiential Learning department. This change aims to improve the educational experience and professional development opportunities for our students and marks an exciting shift in Acadia's approach to supporting student success and career readiness.

This new department, led by Scott Dempsey, Director of Career and Experiential Learning, reports directly to the Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning Excellence, aligning these programs with the academic objectives of the university.

The Career and Experiential Learning team is composed of five dedicated Career and Experiential Learning Coordinators. These coordinators will not only manage the co-op program but also offer to all students specialized career development and experiential learning support tailored to their areas of expertise.

Meet the Career and Experiential Learning Coordinators:

  • Beth Mackenzie: Chemistry, Biology, Applied Bioscience, and Physics
  • Matthew Balsor: Business
  • Erin Draper: Earth and Environmental Science and Nutrition.
  • Krista Kermer: Arts.
  • New Coordinator for Math and Computer Science: We are in the process of hiring a new coordinator who will join us by early fall to coordinate co-op and provide additional career development and experiential learning support for students in Math and Computer Science.

This new structure is designed to provide a more integrated and holistic approach to career and experiential learning, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

Further details will be shared with the Acadia community throughout the coming academic year. For questions or to connect with the Career and Experiential Learning team contact Scott Dempsey, scott.dempsey@acadiau.ca.
